Dealing With The
Reality of Mother Nature
With Mike Moore
Hey, I’m back!

response, for some others
that have been following
my column for a while, it
begs the question, where
have you been this time?
This time around my employer,
FEMA, sent me to photo-document the
Alabama tornadoes that torn that state up
back in April. Then it was on to do some
work with Hurricane Irene. As you might
imagine, traipsing around the continent
and falling right in behind disasters of all
sorts is unique work; by definition I am
required to stare and capture images that
most people would want to look away
from.

depressing I have to admit. But being a
disaster worker means I get to help my
fellow Americans at the time of their
greatest need. How does taking a picture
of piles of houses or dead cattle help peo-
ple? By bringing what I see to you, the
