are all dogs in vests Service Dogs?
Special to The Newscaster by Alesone MacCormack of Chosen2Serve, Inc.
Service Dogs have such an important job to do, they are specifically
trained to help mitigate the disability of the disabled handler/owner. So was that
little Yorkie you saw in Walgreen’s, wearing a vest a Service Dog? Probably,
but there is a possibility it was not. How do you know if the dog is a legitimate
service dog? Per ADA Law, “Service animals are de-
fined as dogs that are individually trained to do work
or perform tasks for people with disabilities. Examples
of such work or tasks include guiding people who are
blind, alerting people who are deaf, pulling a wheel-
chair, alerting and protecting a person who is having a
seizure, reminding a person with mental illness to take
prescribed medications, calming a person with Post
Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) during an anxiety
