"Fallout" After Vehicle Crash Causes
Hardship for InglisSheila Stone were driving south

At 7:31 a.m., July 30, Inglis residents John and
to the Florida Keys to work there for two months while staying at Bahia Honda State Park,
however their plans were derailed in Marathon, Florida when their truck, which was tow-
ing their camper, was involved in a head-on traffic crash with another vehicle. Fortunately,
no one was seriously injured in the crash, but the Stones were unable to work, and friends
drove through the night to make the ten-hour trip to bring them back home. The crash was
significant enough to make the front page of the Florida Keynoter newspaper with a color
photograph.
The crash occurred on U.S. Hwy. 1 (S.R. 5) in Marathon, as John was traveling
south and negotiated a curve on the roadway. According to Sheila, “Our camper began to
fishtail, and John had nowhere to go. There was traffic all around him... The truck actually
swerved around in the other direction. The camper slid on its side, still attached to the truck.
When he faced the other direction (north), another car hit us. Our small daschund was hit
with the airbag and sustained a head injury and swollen eye. I went to the hospital, but was
released with minor injures. The paramedics and firemen in Layton were terrific. One in par-
