Levy County Primary Election Wrap Up
Pet Patrol
The August 26, 2014 Levy County Election proved to be an incredibly close race
that ended even closer than first thought after provisional ballots were cleared and recounts
according to law were done. There were 14 provisional ballots cast during the election
which had to be cured by 5 PM Thursday. Those having to vote on a provisional ballot are
decided by poll workers when there is a question of the identification, dated time frames
eligible to vote or change in a party registration. A manual count had to be done by Friday
August 29 in the District 4 race between Rooks and Bell because state law requires verifica-
tion if the margin between 2 candidates is less than 0.5 percent. The manual recount only
had to be done on ballots when a voter marked more than one name in a race or did not mark
any in a particular race.
