“No one should go hungry in
our hometown” Part II
By Deborah Russell

We Care Food Pantry dream is
coming to fruition!
In last week’s Squawk Box col-
umn, we mentioned the good deeds of the
We Care Food Pantry, which is currently
feeding more than 2,700 needy people in
Citrus County every month.
With the growth of the We Care
Food Pantry since its inception in 2005, a
critical project is the proposed construc-
tion of two 7,200 sq. ft. buildings, the
We Care Food Pantry and the Feed Citrus
County Distribution Center, at a five-acre
donated site located at S. Premier Ave. and
W. Cardinal St. in Homosassa.
The project’s next hurdle is the
rezoning of the site from rural residential
to industrial. Diane Toto, executive direc-
tor and president of the We Care Food
Pantry, appeared before the Citrus County
