History Spoken Here!
The Greater Dunnellon Historical Society will open its doors to the train depot
and the museum each Tuesday from 9am to 2pm. Volunteer member, Boomtown Sam will
be on hand to educate, listen and share our rich history. Sam is carrying on the tradition
of the charming Gloria Williams who is taking a break from her weekly visits, thank you
Gloria for minding the store for so many years. Like Gloria, Sam will have a pot of coffee
brewing. It is probably not surprising that Sam is interested in the boomtown years of Dun-
nellon but before there was phosphate, there were trains and carpetbaggers, unimaginable
fish and game and logging and so much more. On a clear quiet night...the echoes of the
Dade, Gaines and Clinch battles of the Second Seminole War can be heard. Listening is a
very important part of keeping history alive, please consider stopping by the Dunnellon's
Historic Train Depot, Sam promises to listen attentively and make sure your coffee is fresh!
