all of the changes they proposed in their Amended Comp Plan. Who would know the differ-
ence? DCA wouldn’t know and the voters would be none the wiser. The plan was set. They

As expected the March 19 Referendum passed by 2/3 of the vote. The problem
was it only contained 7 carefully crafted, irrelevant, confusing, questions which nobody

Ken Heimann, pharmacist and owner of the B&W Rexall Drugs in Downtown Inverness
received a request from 388 Citrus County students in need of school supplies. Ken provided
B&W Rexall Drug backpacks, each stuffed with a water bottle, ten pencils, filler paper, spiral
notebooks, pocket folders, composition notebooks, Elmer’s school glue, and crayola’s 24
pack crayons along with a free 88¢ breakfast coupon. Surprisingly 78 high school students
asked if they could receive a backpack as well. Ken replaced the crayons with extra pocket
folders and extra college ruled filler paper.
All 388 backpacks stuffed with supplies, Ken purchased at his own drugstore (B&W
Rexall Drugs). Ken, his wife Tina and their four children filled all the backpacks. Ken himself,
distributed all 388 backpacks over a four day period. When Ken asked the returning students
if they were ready to go back to school, an overwhelmingly response of “yes” was heard ev-
eryday. And to keep the momentum going, Ken handed each child a free soft serve ice cream
coupon after meeting each one of them.
