Two Dunnellon People arrested after eluding deputy
Two Dunnellon residents were arrested by the Citrus County Sheriff’s Office,
Aug. 13, after the driver did not stop for a patrol deputy who attempted to stop a 2004 Ford
pickup truck in Dunnellon.
According to the arrest reports, the deputy first noticed the truck, and several peo-
ple, at the Circle K gas station in Dunnellon, slightly before 12:23 a.m., in what appeared
to the deputy to be an argument. The deputy pulled into the parking lot and spoke with a
male who said that several people were attempting to fight him. He pointed to the pickup
truck, as several people entered it and it drove away, with the occupants not wearing safety
belts, the reports stated.
The deputy pulled behind the truck, driving south on Hwy. 41 and noticed that
the tag light was not operable. He attempted to stop the truck on Hwy. 41 at C.R. 488, just
inside the Citrus County Line, but the truck turned right onto C.R. 488, and then left onto
N. Derrickson Terrace. The vehicle did not stop until it entered a driveway at 12117 N.
Derrickson Ter., although the deputy had used his siren and flashing lights.
When the truck stopped, the front seat passenger got out and ran into the woods
behind the residence. The driver was placed into handcuffs and into the back of the patrol
vehicle, and the other occupants were detained.
The driver, Heather Lee Sauer, 20, 12117 N. Derrickson Ter., said she did not
stop because she had to go to Marion County Court on Aug. 13, due to her license being
suspended. She was charged with fleeing and eluding a law enforcement officer and driving
