These and many other opportunities are available to participants of 4-H clubs
statewide. If your child might benefit from a 4-H membership mark your calendar for the
annual Levy County Extension 4-H Round Up. It will be held on Saturday, August 27 from
9 a.m. to Noon at the UF/IFAS Extension Office in Bronson. Round Up marks the official
beginning of the new 4-H year. Each county 4-H Club will showcase the many activities
and events they participate in throughout the year as well as offer an activity or craft for
interested youth to make and take with them.
Adults can hear more about volunteer leadership opportunities. All adults and
youth are encouraged to attend and sign up for the coming year in 4-H. 4-H is open to all
youth ages 5 to 18 (as of September 1, 2016) without regard to race, religion, sex, creed, or
political affiliation. The 4-H youth program is a part of the University of Florida Extension
program, providing solutions to local challenges in Levy County. Utilizing a learn-by- do-
ing approach, 4-H helps youth gain the knowledge and skills they need to be responsible,
productive citizens. This mission is accomplished by creating safe and inclusive learning
environments, involving caring adults, and utilizing the expertise and resources of the Uni-
