of drug paraphernalia; his bond was set at $3,000. Passenger Ashley Marie Baxter, 22, In-

Robert Elmer Simon, Jr., 45, Crystal River, was arrested by the Citrus County
Sheriff s Office, June 26, charged with resisting an officer with violence and battery of a law
enforcement officer ($15,000 bond). The report stated that deputies were dispatched to a N.
Elm Dr., Crystal River residence due to the report of a man cutting himself on the abdomen.
When deputies arrived, Mr. Simon denied having self-inflicted the three wounds noted to his
lower abdomen. A witness showed deputies a knife, and told deputies that Mr. Simon had
cut himself with it. Mr. Simon agreed to allow EMS to the scene, "Just to clean me up," the
report quoted him as saying, but when EMS arrived on scene, he refused medical treatment.
When deputies attempted to take him into custody, Mr. Simon fought them, the report stated.
He kicked one deputy on the right foot and leg and another deputy on his knee. The report
stated that Simon also attempted to head-butt the deputies, but when they threatened to
subdue him with a taser, he complied. When Mr. Simon complained that his head and back
were hurting, Levy County medics responded to the location and medically cleared him. Mr.
Simon then told the deputies, that if he could fight them one-on-one, he would "beat their
a$$." He was then transported to the Citrus County Detention Facility in Lecanto.
