culture shellfish harvest area maps. The squiggly lines designate a Conditionally Restricted



Area as seen in this map along the different parts of area 34 of the Levy County Coast



(Withlacoochee Bay) but more so in the Yankeetown area where it goes further off shore at

the mouth of the Withlacoochee River. Long timers know that during season, oysters are not



gathered south of a stake just south of Hickory Island. Yankeetown Council member Larry



Feldhusen has proposed starting oyster beds near Yankeetown similar to Cedar Key's clam

farming as one of the town's request for BP oil spill funds through the Restore Act. According



to Yankeetown City Clerk Laura Coyles the Restore Act Committee was scheduled to hold their



next meeting in Yankeetown at the Withlacoochee Gulf Preserve Education Center July 29.
