Two single vehicle crashinjured inmiles south of Crashin Levy

County, July 19, resulted in injuries to the two passengers of the vehicle. According to the
Florida Highway Patrol, the crash occurred at 4:50 p.m. when Theresa Marie Mafetone,
42, of Port Richey, was driving a 1996 Lincoln car, traveling south on Hwy. 19 in the left
lane. She traveled into the center grass median and oversteered, causing the car to rotate in
a clockwise direction, move across both southbound lanes of Hwy. 19, onto the west grass
shoulder and strike a tree with the front of the car.
The car came to rest facing south. Mafetone received serious injuries in the crash,
and her passenger, 86 year-old Margaret Bennett of Nekoosa, WI received critical injuries.
Both were transported to Shand’s Hospital in Gainesville. Neither was wearing a seatbelt.
Alcohol was not a factor in the crash. The report stated that unspecified charges are pending.
