substance that reeked of urine, the report stated.
Upon Wood s arrest, she admitted that she had lied to the detective during their
conversations. She had depicted herself as patient and caring, but she spent much of her
time on Facebook. She admitted that she and Williams had planned to leave Citrus County
due to the investigation. She said Williams had given her a black eye in the recent past,
and she had lied about that to protect him. Upon questioning, Wood said she was not lying
to protect Williams or any other person. She said she’d also lied about knowingly being in
possession of stolen property she’d posted for sale on the internet. She said she had simply
forgotten to tell the detective about the older child allegedly pushing over the bassinet, and
about the baby’s temperament during the previous weekend, that the baby was crying a lot.
She said the other infant she kept had increased her frustration. She admitted to being alone
with the baby when the bassinet fell and when she became unresponsive. She also admit-
ted that she neglected to take the baby for medical care. She denied intentionally injuring
the baby. She said the baby was always okay after being alone with Williams. She denied
telling the E.R. doctor that the older child had kicked the baby.
Wood was placed under arrest. She and Williams were both charged with neglect
of the older child in the June 14 incident. Both were given no bond due to their plan to leave
the area, having left the area recently and to previously being homeless.
