Citrus County Sheriff Scam Alert
Over the past couple of days the Citrus County Sheriff s Office has had numer-
ous reports of a scam involving a caller who claims to be a Detective with either the Citrus
County Jail or the Citrus County Sheriff s Office. The caller is informing potential victims
that a loved one has either been arrested or has an outstanding warrant, and to avoid crimi-
nal prosecution of their loved one they must send the caller money for a "bond". The caller
usually requests the potential victim to obtain a prepaid credit card or send money via Pay-
Pal. In some cases the caller "spoofs" or fakes his caller ID number to reflect actual phone
numbers which are affiliated with the Citrus County Sheriff Office.
This is a scam. NEVER send money over the phone to someone you don't know
personally and keep in mind the following facts:
·
The Citrus County Sheriff Office will NEVER call a person directly to tell someone
about a loved one's bond and then request immediate payment.
·
ALWAYS double check any information that is being given to you from a questionable
caller by asking who you are speaking with and obtaining their Agency ID#.
·
Call the Citrus County Sheriff s Office non emergency number (352) 726 1121 and
confirm if that person is an actual employee and ask to speak with them directly to confirm
the information.

Citrus County Utilities Valve Maintenance Program
Citrus County Utilities Division has contracted with R and M Service Solutions
to perform valve maintenance throughout the service areas of Citrus County Utilities. The
goal of valve maintenance is to improve system reliability and to increase the efficiency and
productivity of the system. The contractor began work on Monday, July 6 and they will first
be concentrating on the main corridors of the system. Work is conducted between the hours
of 8:00 am through 4:30 pm, Monday through Friday, and will continue over the next few
months.
Customers within these service areas may observe minor pressure fluctuations and/
or discolored or cloudy water. This is a common occurrence with valve maintenance and
does not present a public health risk. In most instances, these conditions clear up quickly,
however running water through all the faucets in your home for several minutes is recom-
mended and should produce clear water again.
If you continue to have discolored water after flushing your faucets thoroughly or
have any questions please call Citrus County Utilities at 527-7653, after hours at 727-497-
5319.
