The Citrus County Animal Services Division shelter
group. Volunteers already serve at the county’s animal shelter, but now the new Friends of
Citrus County Animal Services (FOCCAS) is coming to life as a non-profit organization.
It was formed of volunteers dedicated to animal welfare, community involvement, public
education and increased adoption of shelter animals.
Recognizing that the county shelter accepts all animals, that it has limited taxpayer
funds to take care of them, and that some animals need more than just basic care when they
arrive at the shelter, FOCCAS intends to be a voice for the shelter animals and to try to en-
sure all get every opportunity available to them.
The group intends to raise funds to improve the quality of life of the animals in
general, provide for more complicated and expensive medical treatment than the shelter is
able to give, and help with enhancements at the shelter that will improve the animals’ lives.
The group is looking for members and donations. For more information or to get
involved or make a donation, contact Samantha at (352)228-1549 or send an e-mail to
