It is hard to realize there
is a water shortage and we
are stressing our water sup-
ply when we are getting so
much rain. Fact is, we are
still below average for the year and the
Floridan aquifer, which lies beneath all
of Florida and parts of Georgia, Alabama
and South Carolina, is being pumped
more than ever.
In Marion County the bottled
water industry finally got a foothold
when the county commission allowed the
Moody project to proceed. That project
alone will pump thousands of gallons of
water a day from the Salt Springs location
and is bound to be the forerunner of many
more bottled water operations to come in
Marion County. The precedent has been
set.
