where. I witnessed a young lady recently enter our grocery store talking on the phone, talk
on it the entire time she shopped, then stay on the darn thing while she checked out. The
sales clerk was trying to make conversation with the young lady, but was not able to break
into her conversation with the mystery voice on the other end of the line. She left the store,
got into her car and drove off still engaged in conversation on her cell phone. Did I mention
she had small children with her? I’m sorry, but I think that’s kind of tacky.
I have owned a cell phone for about 5 years or more now and I have lost one and
managed to drown one in the Muddy River in Swallow Falls Maryland. That incident oc-
curred at the tail end of a hike through heavy woods and intermittent wading with my young
grandsons in the rough waters at Swallow Falls. My dear wife kept warning me to give her
the cell phone, but I assured her everything was under control: And it was, until the 4 year
old broke free from my grip and I tried to corral him in. At that precise moment I stepped
into a hole and was up to my neck in water. My grandson, who caused the fall, said “come
on Grandaddy, we can’t swim here”.
I should have let the Muddy River claim that phone and call it quits but I still own
one. Maybe W.H.O should test cell phones for its addiction tendencies rather than its pos-
sible role in causing cancer. I think I have a problem.
