BOCC Workshop Cancelled
The Board of County Commissioners approved to cancel the Fertilizer Workshop,
previously scheduled for Tuesday, June 9 at 9 a.m.
This item will be included in the May 26 meeting agenda and a presentation has
been scheduled for 1:40 p.m. Public is encouraged to attend and comments will be taken
from the public. Citizens can watch a live telecast of the meeting on Channel 643 on Bright-
house Networks and Channel 71 on Comcast. For more information, please call Tobey Phil-

Two Free Florida-Friendly Gardening Workshops in June
Best Management Practices for Residential Landscape Care
Citrus County Utilities Florida-Friendly LandscapingTM Program is offering a free garden-
ing workshop on June 16 from 2:00-3:30 pm. Practices Nature Coast gardeners should
utilize including proper fertilization, responsible pest management, material selection and
efficient use of supplemental irrigation will be topics discussed. Selecting the right plant
and planting it in the right location is often the principle which provides gardening success.
Establishing and maintaining the proper material reduces the amount of water, fertilizer
and pest control practices required to sustain the landscape garden you create. Classes are
held at the Citrus County Extension Service building, located at 3650 W Sovereign Path
in Lecanto. Please contact Steven Davis at (352) 527-5708 to confirm your participation.
Florida Friendly Landscaping Understanding Soils
Citrus County Utilities Florida-Friendly LandscapingTM Program is offering a free garden-
ing workshop on Tuesday, June 30 from 2:00-3:30 p.m. The components of Florida's soils
and geology need to be considered when making landscaping installation and best manage-
ment choices. The soil's pH, proper fertilization choices and appropriate supplemental
irrigation practices can impact the sustainability of our ornamental gardens. Learn ways to
effectively manage plants growing in sandy Florida soils. Classes are held at the Citrus
County Extension Service Building, located at 3650 W Sovereign Path in Lecanto. Please
