New Traffic Light Causes
Pet Patrol
Confusion on U.S. 19
The Citrus County Sheriff Dept. requested that we alert drivers again about the
new traffic light at C.R. 488 and U.S.19. The yellow flashing traffic signal on Hwy 19 and
the Dunnellon Road (CR 488) became a fully operational traffic light last Thursday.
According to Citrus County Sheriff dispatch the change has causes quite
a few problems, including an accident Monday when I called to verify it s change in opera-
tion. This change to red and green traffic signal is part of the improvements seen all around
locally with paving and the new bridges. The fully functioning signal is to help with the
large number of Progress Energy vehicles using this area. Be careful, as it is easy to do what
we always do and not pay full attention.
When the train tracks to Progress Energy were installed years ago at Hwy 19 and
Powerline Road, several local drivers who had driven Highway 19 regularly, ran into a train
with the crossing bars down and flashing lights.
