The preliminary autopsy report from the medical examiner’s office in Leesburg
regarding the body found Tuesday near Peck’s Old Port Cove restaurant confirms what
CCSO detectives saw when the man’s body was recovered from the water by CCSO dive
team members.
Cause of death was a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head. Next-of-kin notifi-
cation has been made with the family of the decedent, Devin Sims, 41, of Spring Hill.
Shortly before 1 a.m. June 9th, Citrus County Sheriff’s Office dispatchers got a call
ref: the death of a teenage boy by what appears to be a shotgun wound to the head.
Austin Porter, 18, of Inverness was staying at a friend’s house in Hernando, 7089
N. Palmer Way, where he and acquaintances had been passing around a shotgun.
At some point, the gun apparently discharged, and Porter suffered a fatal head
wound. The autopsy is scheduled in Leesburg where the medical examiner’s office will be
determining the specific cause and manner of the teen’s death.
On Thursday, June 3, at 12:30 a.m., CCSO dispatchers received a call about a
white male in distress lying on the ground under a tree near 7696 W. Homosassa Trail.
When deputies arrived on scene, they found Norman Ohrstrom, 66, of Homo-
sassa suffering from labored breathing and difficulty speaking. EMS transported the man
