Retirement - Principal Ann Hayes, in a ceremony, gives a goodby to Joyce Richards who
retired Jun 4th after 20 years with Yankeetown School. Joyce started with the school in 1989
as a bus driver. In 99 she began as a volunteer teacher’s aid and still driving the bus. Joyce
was in charge of the Great Leaps Reading Program teaching phonics and blending sounds
for 3 years. Joyce and her mother were responsible for the start of a fund to build the gym,
a dream everyone thought impossible. Today it is one of the most used, awesome buildings
in the school. Newscaster Photo by Sally Price
