pickup truck) was also traveling southbound on I-75 in the inside lane. Vehicle-3 (a 2007
Ford Crown Victoria, the FHP patrol vehicle), Vehicle 4 ( a 2004 Chevrolet pickup truck that
had been involved in the first crash) and Vehicle-5 ( a 2012 Ford tow truck) were parked on
the inside emergency lane due to the previous traffic crash. The driver of V-1 (the 2006 Mer-
cury SUV), Mr. Lindecamp, abruptly applied his brakes due to stopped traffic, causing the
vehicle to slide sideways, into the inside lane. V-2 (the 2005 Ford pickup truck) sideswiped
V-1 (the 2006 Mercury SUV) and was redirected onto the median. The 2005 Ford pickup
truck traveled southeasterly, between the parked cars and the guardrail. striking the parked
vehicles and people, in this approximate order: the patrol car, the 2004 Chevrolet pickup
truck, Trooper Richard, Mr. Phillips, Mr. Duggan and the tow truck. The 2005 Ford pickup
truck came to final rest on the eastern grassy shoulder and emergency lane.
Hannah Bartlett (from the first crash, who was a passenger in the 2004 Chevrolet
pickup truck at the time of the second crash) was transported to Ocala Regional Medical
Center in serious condition. Mr. Lindecamp carried no passengers. Neither Troy T. Owens
(the driver of the Ford pickup truck) or his passenger, Tristan H. Owens, 17, of Ocala, were
injured in the crash.
The crash report stated that charges are pending further investigation, which could
take several months.
Northbound lanes of I-75 remained open, but the traffic remained slow as vehicles
slowed down due to the accident scene. The southbound lanes of I-75 had heavy delays
due to the crashes and the traffic homicide investigation. Deputies with the Marion County
