Task Force Arrest - From page 1
Remembering the Past
at $155,000.
Members of the Sheriff s Office Tactical Impact Unit, Levy County Drug Task
Force and Probation and Parole played key roles in this arrest.
On May 15, task force members were notified that Probation and Parole was going
to conduct a probationary search at Vince Baker's residence.
During that time, task force personnel conducted surveillance, about 8:00 pm while
awaiting for probation s arrival at the residence, located at 10774 SW. Diamond T Ln. in
Crystal River.
The CCSO s west side patrol deputies also gathered and forwarded critical infor-
mation to task force members which indicated that Baker had just received several boxes of
ephedrine that he was going to use to manufacture methamphetamine.
Contact was made with Vince Baker at his residence in reference to the purchases
of the ephedrine boxes, and he was advised of probation's arrival. Vince Baker broke down,
giving a full confession of his actions. He told law enforcement that he currently had an
active, methamphetamine lab at the residence. Fire Rescue's HazMat team responded and
assisted in the lab clean-up.
Baker was on a five-year suspended sentence on Levy County charges. He will
be facing a minimum of five years in jail excluding his new charges. Five hundred and five
grams of methamphetamine oil was also recovered, which is considered trafficking weight,
which carries a 15 year mandatory sentence, if convicted.
"We are reaping the benefits of this innovative partnership between our agencies,"
Undersheriff Commander Buddy Grant said today. "This makes it harder on the criminals
working the system and easier for us to put them away."
It was July 8, 1972 and the Yankeetown Woman's Club was vitally interested in their com-

the Yankeetown Council passing a town ordinance establishing the Town of Yankeetown as a
