Random bullet breaks classroom window
On May 10, a broken window was found in a small, seldom used classroom at
Rock Crusher Elementary School. The school resource officer and deputies with the Major
Crimes Division (Citrus County Sheriff s Office) determined that the breakage was caused
by a bullet that came through the window and lodged in a concrete wall.
No children were in the room at the time of the incident, and it does not appear that
the shot was fired during school hours. "There are no indications, at this time, to lead us to
believe this shot was intentionally fired at the school, nor is there any evidence to support
that the shot was fired during school hours," said Capt. Brad Smith of the criminal investiga-
tions division.
Detectives believe that the shot originated from a neighborhood near the school.
They conducted interviews in the neighborhood, to determine when the incident occurred
