Citrus Democrats Endorse Medical
Remembering the Past
Marijuana Amendment 2
BEVERLY HILLS, Citrus County Democrats have endorsed the 2016 Amendment 2 with
the ballot title "Use of Marijuana for Debilitating Medical Conditions," and urge the Florida
legislature to implement the 2016 Amendment quickly and diligently should it pass with
60% or more support from Florida voters. Hundreds of thousands of Floridians suffer from
debilitating diseases, which can be alleviated with medical marijuana. Currently, non-termi-
nal patients in Florida have no legal access to medical marijuana to alleviate their suffering.
In twenty-three states and Washington DC, non-terminal patients with debilitat-
ing diseases already have such access to medical marijuana. In contrast, Florida's limited
medical marijuana law SB 1030 to benefit terminal patients has not been implemented even
though it was passed in 2014.
The 2014 Amendment to legalize medical marijuana received 58% of the vote, just
shy of the 60% needed for passage. The 2016 initiative will be on the General Election bal-
lot in November. The full resolution passed unanimously by the Citrus County Democratic
Executive Committee at its regular meeting on April 20 at the Beverly Hills Civic Center.

tee Chair, at 352-209- 8651.
