Semi truck crashes into utility pole in Inverness parking lot
A 2002 Freightliner semi truck was involved in a single-vehicle crash in an In-
verness parking lot, about 4:45 am on Wed., May 4. According to the Florida Highway
Patrol, 57 year-old Timothy Allen Fleck, of Tavares, FL, was driving in a southerly direction
through the parking lot of the IR-UR Social Club, located at 922 US 41, about 15 ft. east of
the road, and failed to notice a wooden utility light pole. The right side of the vehicle's trailer
struck the utility pole, about a third of the distance of the trailer's length from the front of the
trailer on the right side. The truck was able to stop at, or near, the point of impact with the
utility pole, facing south. The report stated that Mr. Fleck was inattentive and operated the
truck in a careless or negligent manner. Mr. Fleck was wearing a seatbelt and alcohol was
not a factor in the crash. Trooper T.G. Cloud investigated the crash.
