Citrus Sheriff Takes Back Drugs
Pet Patrol
- Continued from page 1
Bergen said the drugs would be picked up by the Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA)
and properly disposed of. Comments made by an environmentalist as he dropped off his bag
of unused drugs was how thankful he was for this collection effort which would keep the
drugs from ending up flushed and in the ground. One concerned citizen dropping off a bag
of pill bottles stated that she could not believe that so many expensive drugs so needed by
many and paid for by someone down the line were to be disposed of though she agreed with
the collection. With only one hour into the collection, Bergen, who was totally amazed at
the response, had to call for relief so he could go get a truck to load the huge amount already
collected in. Det. Bergen said the final count on the collection showed forty-one trash bags
totaling 991 pounds was turned in. Thanks to everyone who took the time to use this collec-
tion event.
