Inglis Teen Shines in Queen of
Rainbow Competition
Special to The Newscaster by Doug Johnston
Due to a late change of directors for the Queen of the Rainbow pageant the annual
event was in jeopardy of taking place this year. At the eleventh hour, last year's queen Heidi
Schwier was named director by new Dunnellon Chamber of Commerce Director Bev Leisure
and with the help of her sister and parents the popular event was put together once again. The
pageant serves as the Grande finale for Dunnellon's Boomtown Days celebration.
Inglis was well represented in this year's pageant as Brianne Umhoefer was awarded
2nd runner-up by the contest judges in the Teen Queen portion of the contest for young
ladies under the age of 17. The Dunnellon High School junior was also chosen Miss Conge-
niality, a title voted on by the pageant contestants.
Miss Umhoefer is a DHS cheerleader who carries a 4.6 weighted grade average. In
addition to the responsibility of being a high school cheerleader and an honor student, the
petite blond finds time to hold down a part time job on weekends at Food Ranch Supermarket
in Inglis where she is a cashier and customer service representative. She also helps her
mother, Winnie Umhoefer, on occasion at her restaurant, Aunt Winnies which is located in
