Deputies with the Citrus County Sheriff s Office evacuated the Citrus County

Courthouse, Thursday afternoon, April 23, due to a bomb threat that was sent to News

Channel 8 by way of email. The sheriff s office investigated the claim, and everyone was

eventually allowed back inside the courthouse. The incident remains under investigation.

The email also contained bomb threats to other locations, as well, including the Hernando

County Courthouse in Brooksville, the Tampa International Airport and the Clearwater Air-

port. The email was forwarded to the appropriate law enforcement agency in each jurisdic-

verness last week. On Thurs., April 16, the CCSO Bomb Squad investigated a suspicious

package that was left on a deputy's patrol car, outside the Citrus County Courthouse in

Inverness. The package was determined as not being a threat. The man who left the pack-

age was located and questioned, but no charges were filed. The following day, a "low level,

unsubstantiated threat," according to the CCSO's Media Division, was received regarding
