lower than the same time last year. Out of a labor force of 203,364, there were 15,282 unem-

ployed, a decrease of 35 over the month and 1,974 fewer than March 2013.

The employment summary, released today by the Florida Department of Economic

Opportunity (DEO), indicated that there were no counties with double-digit unemployment

rates in March and that all 22 metropolitan areas experienced over-the-year job gains.

The March unemployment rates were 7.5 percent for Marion County, tied for the

third highest rate in the state but the county's lowest since June 2008 when the rate was 7.6

percent; 7.8 percent for Citrus County, down 0.1 percent over the month and the lowest since

8.0 percent in June 2008; and 7.1 percent in Levy County, down 0.2 percentage points and

the lowest since its 7.7 percent rate in July 2008. Local rates are not seasonally adjusted.

Florida's seasonally adjusted rate is 6.3 percent and the non-adjusted rate is 6.4 percent. The

national rate, adjusted, is 6.7 percent and non-adjusted is 6.8 percent.

All three counties in the local workforce development region experienced across-

the-board improvement since February's report with expansion of the labor force, increases

in the number of employed and a drop, albeit slight, in the number of jobless. Over the year,

however, only Marion and Levy counties showed positive gains while Citrus County posted

drops in the labor force and the number of employed in Citrus County.
