Coping with an empty
nest: Part 1
The rooms of our house that
used to serve as bedrooms for
our sons and daughter are now
a sewing room and computer
room respectively. Our three
children all left home almost at
the same time. Our oldest son actually hung
around the longest, off and on, before leav-
ing for good in 1995. He moved to Orlando
shortly after graduating from high school, but
changed jobs a couple of times and kept com-
ing back to Dunnellon and showing up in his
old bedroom. He met his lovely bride-to-be a
few years after high school and they married
soon after: One gone.
Our daughter left
about the same time, moving to Gainesville
where she met her husband to be. They were
married and moved to Ocala where they have
lived ever since. Two out, one to go.
Our youngest son wasted no time leaving
home after graduation; the door didn't hit him
in the rear-end as he walked out the door. He
graduated in May of 1996 and was doing
push-ups in the United States Army 3 months
later. He spent the last 6 months of his 3-1/2
year army hitch in North Carolina and mar-
