At 5:20 p.m. on April 8, the Citrus County Sheriff s Office,
cue responded to a structure fire at 11631 W. Fig Tree Ln. in Crystal River. Engine 91 from
the DeRosa fire station arrived on-scene at 5:39 p.m. to find a 2000 square feet single story
outside storage building fully involved in fire. A defensive exterior attack was initiated by
Engine 91 and crews from Engine 31, which quickly brought the fire under control. Fire
units from DeRosa, Crystal River, Homosassa, Connell Heights and Pine Ridge were used to
extinguish the fire. Five engines, two tankers, one squad and a Battalion Chief were assigned
to the fire, which was under control at 6:54 p.m. The fire was not suspicious in nature and
ruled accidental. Fire/Rescue reminds citizens to check their smoke detectors on a regularly.
