Woman arrested for drug possession is
preschool owner
A woman who was arrested on a drug charge after a traffic stop for a driving infrac-
tion, April 4, is reported to be the owner of Countryside Preschool, located at 3370 N. Citrus
Ave. in Crystal River.
Cassandra Ann Romanik, 44, 9327 W. Wisconsin Ct., Crystal River, was reported
to be in possession of 0.96 gram methamphetamine and was charged with possession of a
controlled substance. Her bond was set at $2,000.
According to the Citrus County Sheriff's arrest report, Romanik proceeded through
a stop sign and stopped her vehicle about a quarter of a vehicle length over the stop bar at
NE 3rd Ave. and NE 3rd St. in Crystal River. The traffic stop was soon made at the corner of
NE 3rd Ave. and NE Crystal St.
The report stated that Romanik was "very nervous and fidgety," but consented to a
search of her vehicle. At first, she denied having possession of any illegal items, but she later
told the deputy that she had a small amount of crystal methamphetamine in her right front
pocket that she'd obtained from a friend at a bar. She said she hadn't paid for the drug, and it
was for personal use, that she did not use methamphetamine on a regular basis. She told the
deputy that she could not afford to get into trouble because she is the owner of Countryside
Preschool. Romanik was also issued a written warning for the stop sign/stop bar violation.
