that they have recently received from the Progress Energy on their existing nuclear unit at the
Crystal River generating complex. This has nothing to do with the new plants proposed for
Levy County. Nuclear plants are licensed for a specific number of years. The Crystal River
unit's license will expire on December 3, 2016. They can apply to renew the license for another
20 years but they must go through a rigorous review to assure safety. The NRC will begin a
series of hearings in our area to take public input on this issue.
April Agenda - Lauren Day of the Alachua Conservation Trust will be at the April 6th
regular council meeting to discuss grant possibilities for putting Chambers Island into con-
servation. If you would like more information contact Councilman Larry Feldhusen.
Legal Front - On the legal front, attorneys with the firm of Lewis, Stroud and Deutsch
have filed a motion with the courts requesting that they be allowed to withdraw from represen-
tation of their client, Izaak Walton Investors, for two cases involving the town. The appeal of
the Board of Adjustment decision and the administrative hearing concerning the Comprehen-
sive plan are the two cases involved. The motion cited irreconcilable differences with their
clients. It is not know at this time what impact this will have on the cases pending but could
lengthen the process.

The project, which begins at Ten Mile Creek Bridge in Lebanon Station and ends at
Southeast Third Street in Otter Creek, is designed to increase the safety and decrease the
number of crashes on this stretch of roadway which in the past three years has had 32 crashes
including four fatalities.

Paved shoulders also provide more space between vehicles and pedestrians or bicycles
and provide a safer place for disabled vehicles to pull out of the travel lanes.
