Our Heroes
The other day I was sitting
in one of my favorite morning
eateries and got pulled into the
conversation that was taking
place behind me. It was of
course about politics. I wonder
if the saying `egg on your face' got started
with breakfast and talking politics; seems
like the two activities go hand in hand. Any-
way, the conversation started getting heated
when it turned to the recent series of politi-
cal ads by our national presidential candi-
dates. I was ready to tune out when sud-
denly something one older fella said piqued
my interest. He said, "Barak Obama is my
hero."
Wait, what? When is a political candi-
date looking for a job a hero?
That got me started thinking about heroes.
They are everywhere. Almost every news-
cast has a story about one. Their stories are
stuck in the middle of magazines. They are
even parodied. Heck, when I started looking

around for heroes, I couldn't turn my head
sharp. With a little something for everyone, the fair attracts thousands of visitors to see the livestock and commercial exhibits, special music
with noticing one or three. There are unspo-
events and of course, the midway rides and games. This year's fair runs this week through Friday. Photo by Mike Moore
