Improvements to Cutler Spur Blvd.
Pet Patrol
in Crystal River Underway
According to Crystal River Director of Public Works, Dave Burnell, improvement
which are now ongoing to Cutler Spur Blvd. in Crystal River include the complete recon-
struction of the road so as to improve the vertical alignment, add drainage retention areas,
improve the drainage collection system, replace utilities, widen the roadway, and add a 10
foot -wide walking and biking path.
This project has been in development for many years, and is being partially funded
by a grant from the Florida Department of Transportation.
The contract for this project has been awarded to Commercial Industrial Corpora-
tion from Reddick, Florida. Construction started in late February on Segment 3, which is
between S. Paradise Pt. and Kings Bay Drive. This road section will remain closed for ap-
proximately 90 days. Those driving in the area are asked to follow the detour signs and stay
aware of the construction activities. Some of the work can be done at night, but much of the
work would be too noisy for that timeframe.
Should you have any questions or concerns during construction of this project,
please contact Rod Darley, Project Coordinator from the engineering firm Stantec at 813-

Pet Food Recall
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration announced that Kasel Associates Indus-
tries Inc. is recalling all pet treats it manufactured from April 20 through Sept. 19, 2012 due
to potential contamination with Salmonella. Kasel has issued three previous recall notices
for specific products manufactured during this time period. The move comes after the Colo-
rado Department of Agriculture tested a retail sample of a Kasel pet treat product and found
it to be positive for Salmonella.
