CCSO warns citizens: Don't fall prey to jury duty phone scam
Recently, the Citrus County Sheriff s Office has been receiving reports regarding a
telephone scam in the area. The CCSO stresses, that this is not a valid call - this is a SCAM,
and this is how it happens: The caller tells the citizen that he/she missed jury duty, and nor-
mally, a police car would be sent out to arrest him/her, however, if the citizen will meet the
police car and pay the caller $5,500, he/she will not be arrested.
The CCSO's Seniors vs. Crime (SvC) Unit is tracking this information and report-
ing it to the proper authorities. If you have been contacted with this scam, please contact Lee
Alexander (CCSO s senior affairs coordinator and SvC office manager), Mondays through
Thursdays, 8:30 am - 1:30, at the following phone numbers and locations: MONDAYS
