Citrus County Parks & Recreation,
Conservation Commission are teaming up to put on the 13th annual Kid's Fishing Clinic
on February 25, 2017 at Fort Island Trail Park (12073 W. Fort Island Trail)from 9 A.M. to
2 P.M. This popular event teaches children the basics of environmental stewardship, fishing
ethics, angling skills, and safety. Please consider giving your time by passing on valuable
fishing knowledge. Please consider one or both of the following ways to help: Rod and Reel
Assembly: We need volunteers to help us put together the rods and reels we receive from
Fish Florida on February 22, 2017 from 10 A.M. to 2 P.M. We will have complimentary cof-
fee & donuts available for everyone helping out. To confirm your volunteer participation in
the Rod and Reel Assembly and/or the Kid's Fishing Clinic Event or if you have any ques-
tions please call Parks & Recreation at 352-527-7540.

a prolonged red tide event negatively impacted the scallop population in St. Joseph Bay,

which led to modified local scallop regulations for 2016 that included a shortened season
and reduced bag limits.
All other portions of the bay scallop harvest zone will be open from July 1 through
Sept. 24, in all state waters, from the Pasco-Hernando county line to the Suwannee River This week's featured photo is of Brain Albert, Chris and Marsha Jones and Johnny
Alligator Pass Daybeacon 4 in Levy County, and from north and west of Rock Island near Hammock of Inverness with their limit of Redfish and a couple Trout. They used live
