Fugitive Arrest - Continued from page 1
Remembering the past
Hayes exited his vehicle without being asked, then threw a baggie of mari-
juana on the ground and started running from the deputy. About 75 yards
away, Hayes was apprehended by, and began fighting with, a K-9 deputy. A
deputy tased Hayes, who fell to the ground, and the arrest was completed.
Hayes was charged with possession of cannabis and resisting an of-
ficer without violence (bond of $1,000). He was also issued a traffic citation
number for failure to stop for a red traffic light (mandatory fine of$264).
According to Tierney, after Hayes faces the Citrus County charges,
Hayes
he’ll likely be extradited to Massachusetts on the charges there: armed as-
sault with a firearm with intent to murder, illegal possession of a firearm, discharging a
firearm within 500 feet of a dwelling and possession of cocaine and heroin with intent to
distribute (no bond). According to the "Boston Herald" newspaper: Hayes allegedly fired
a gun outside his home in, Hyannis, Mass., "a densely packed neighborhood" on Jan. 19.
Neighbors called police, but Hayes had left the area. Hayes has an extensive criminal his-
tory with multiple arrests and convictions for distribution of narcotics. He was recently
released from state prison after serving a three-year term for cocaine trafficking.

household.
I have known a lot of really special people born in the month of February so I can’t
say that the month is completely without merit. My daughter-in-law is a February birthday
girl and she is certainly a joy to be around. Abe Lincoln, Thomas Edison, Babe Ruth and
“Hammering Hank” Aaron were all born in the month of February so at least we have great
people being born in that month.
But all things considered, I’d just as soon do away with February. Lets leave Janu-
ary as soon as the college football season ends and go straight to March. We could begin
planting without fear of frost and get our Easter outfits ready right after we get over our New
Years celebrations. It all makes sense to me.
