I know I'm not going to win
any popularity contest this
week. Some people might just
consider me down right anti-pa-
triotic. But after all - this is the
Squawk Box and dang it, I just
have to squawk about it - and
squawk for anyone who secretly harbors the
same feelings but can't squawk about it them-
selves. It happened a week ago last Sunday
evening. We had been putting off going gro-
cery shopping for a couple of weeks and de-
cided that peanut butter and jelly sandwiches
for dinner wasn't cutting it. So off we went
for some provisions.
We were amazed at the state of Inv-
erness. It was deserted. Literally. There was
not another car in sight for about 5 of the 8
miles from Gospel Island down Rt.44 to Wal-
Mart. All along the way, we noticed that nearly
every business was closed and the parking

empty; the lack of human activity made it seem
eerily silent.
