The Levy County Sheriff's Office, in cooperation with the Central Florida Electric

Cooperative (CFEC), is urging all CFEC customers to be aware of a current scam operation.

Numerous CFEC customers have received phone calls from unknown subjects

claiming their electric bill has not been paid. The customer is being told that if payment is

not made within two hours, then their power will be turned off. These people are asking for

payment to be made by phone and are requesting the customer's credit card number.

CFEC officials confirm these calls have NOT been authorized by them. They will

not contact any CFEC customer by phone requesting payment. CFEC and LCSO are re-

questing any customer who has been contacted, copy down the number you are being called

from and contact LCSO to make a report. Do not give anyone your personal identification

information or credit card number. CFEC is urging their customers to check their web site
