Re: Have you looked at your Garden lately???
LEVY COUNTY HEALTH DEPARTMENT
During the past year our Inglis elected Commissioners and Mayor managed to
352-486-5300 x261
increase your tax burden.
Our Mayor wrote an article in January telling all of us what was accomplished last
year. Reading his article was like getting an artificial bouquet of flowers, but, what was not
disclosed was all of the added taxes they gave you. So let’s call them “Weeds” not “Artificial
flowers”.
· You received A Storm Water Assessment of = $54.00 versus Zero $00.00 in Yankeetown.
·
Another Assessment for the Fire Department = $29.69 versus Zero $ 00.00 in Yan-
keetown.
·
Inglis taxes five cents $.05 on the assessed value of your property versus $.021355 in
Yankeetown. For example, if your taxes in Inglis are $300.00 by comparison you would
only pay $ 128.13 in Yankeetown. That’s $171.87 less. WHY???
I know you remember how the Mayor signed a Mandatory Trash Assessment based
on the Commissioners okay without a required hearing. When the ordinance failed the Com-
missioners had to do an about face. So, once again you had to pay more if you were an exist-
ing Waste Pro customer. More Weeds.
The Commissioners will not give you your Water Deposit back, BUT, insist on
keeping it in a non-interest bearing account. It’s like being punished without cause. More
Weeds.
How about the firing the Levy County Building Department. That’s what Inglis did
and why, so they could get more revenue from all of us with the hope we would not notice.
Without getting to technical they hired Florida Municipal Services to issue permits and ap-
prove construction between (2) two and (3) times the going Levy County fee schedule. A
new building (value $100,000) will now cost you $1,000.00 versus Levy County at $351.41
or $ 641.59 more. They (Commissioners and Mayor) are trying to hide the weeds while
presenting artificial flowers.
