million deficit in 2013 without the Progress Energy shortfall. All this follows reserves four
years ago of $24.8 million and reserves today of $13.7 million according to the budget of-
fice.
Recently state regulators approved a plan to allow two of Florida s biggest utilities
to charge customers for nuclear power projects in the works. Progress Energy will add an
average of an extra $1.80 per month, which would bring in $143 million. The breakdown
includes costs associated with the construction of proposed nuclear plants Levy 1 and Levy
Serving Inglis, Yankeetown, Dunnellon, Hernando, Crystal River & Homosassa
2, and the expansion of existing plant Crystal River 3.
