rescued s rental home in Hernando filled
On Friday, Dec. 16,
smoke, her family immediately contacted Citrus County Fire Rescue, and the Engine 24
crew from Floral City responded. Firefighters found a problem with the AC unit outside
of the home. Worried that the problem might continue, firefighters installed smoke alarms
inside the residence to ensure the family s safety. The landlord arranged to have the AC unit
checked and thought the problem was taken care of. However, during the night while mem-
bers of the household were sleeping, the smoke alarms went off, waking everyone to a home
on fire, filled with smoke.
Ms. Tucker, her 9 month-old grandson, a family friend (Michael), and five of their
six dogs frantically escaped from the home. Felicia Tucker, who wasn't home when the
fire started, drove up to her home to find her loved ones outside and the residence burn-
ing. Engine 14 from Citrus Springs arrived and extinguished the fire. Firefighter Raymond
Gladwell found the dog, Lilly, in good condition in a back bedroom. Animal Control Officer
Tina Andes checked all the dogs and determined they were okay.
In an attempt to save Lilly, family friend Michael broke out a window, which
