Date Change for Town Hall Meeting
Commissioner Kinnard to Hold a Town Hall Meeting in January
Citrus County Commissioner Jeff Kinnard announced he will be holding a Town
Hall Meeting on Thursday, January 19, 2017 for the general public to attend. The meeting
will be held at the Coastal Region Library, located at 8619 W. Crystal Street in Crystal
River, from 5:30 pm to 7:00 pm. "My aim is to connect with the community on issues and
challenges facing our county. I want to know what's on people's minds and have a format
to discuss, reflect, and problem solve." explained Kinnard. "Please come with questions or
concerns, as this is intended to be an informal setting." For more information, please call

Waterfront Lifeguard Class Offered at Bicentennial Park
Citrus County Parks & Recreation is pleased to announce they will be holding a
American Red Cross Waterfront Lifeguard Class, for participants 15 years and older. Pre-
requisite swim will be held on Thursday December 22, 2016 at 2:00pm, classes will run
from Monday January 2 to Friday January 6, 2017 from 9:00am to 4:00pm. All classes and

Crystal River home 50% destroyed in fire
At 1:52 pm, Dec. 16, units with the Fire Rescue division of the Citrus County Sher-
iff s Office arrived at the scene of a reported housefire at 8600 N. Catapane Loop in Crystal
River. Upon their arrival, firefighters found the block-constructed home 50% involved with
active fire, and smoke coming from the roof. Two lines were directed to the front of the
home to prevent the fire from spreading to the remaining rooms of the home. The fire was
extinguished with the damage confined to 50% of the home and 50% of its contents. The
cause of the fire is under investigation. No injuries were reported.
