Native American Month Program at Yankeetown School
Local Cherokee descendants, Mackie Sanford (Eagle Eye) and Michael Serio
(White Wolf) visited Yankeetown School the week of thanksgiving to share Native Ameri-
can music, culture and artifacts.
White Wolf played the flute and drums while Eagle Eye sang in the native Chero-
kee language. Students from Pre-K to 4th grades were allowed to ask questions and re-
ceived wonderful answers to all their inquiries. Students learned to sing songs and a few
Cherokee words.
