Editorial - Opinion - Commentary
The Christmas Parade, “Christmas in Florida” theme, was held Sat. Dec. 11th.
Thanks to RABAC and Commissioner Merritt, it was a huge success and with it Santa

came to town. First prize was awarded to the Inglis Post Office. Their manatee float was
very imaginative and everyone cheered the elves accompanying it handing out candy. Sec-
ond prize was awarded to DAB Construction’s tiki hut float, and third prize was won by

Special Thanks - Mr. Tom Comer has been serving on the Yankeetown Board of  the young ladies of the Inglis-Yankeetown Woman’s Club. Honorable mention were: The

No Midmonth meeting - There will be no mid month meeting this month, mainly
because it is slow this time of year as all business seems to come to a halt. It’s also nice to
give council and staff a bit of a break. The midmonth will be back in January.
Study Completed - Ken Nash at GARI (Gulf Archeology Research Institute) had
received a grant to study the cultural artifacts at the WGP from the DEP Coastal Manage-
ment Program, Coastal Initiative Partnership. The draft report of his study is completed. If
you would like to see the results, stop by the hall. The technical data is on disk if you wish

Shop With A Cop Registration Deadline Dec. 17
The Inglis Police Department has now collected enough money to take 25 local
children shopping with its 2nd-annual Shop with a Cop’ holiday program! This special
event will be held on Thursday, Dec. 23, at 6:00 p.m. Parents of children randomly selected
for this program are welcome to go on this fun shopping trip with their child. Each child will
be able to spend $100 on holiday gifts.
Please register your child for the Shop with a Cop program - by Friday, Dec. 17 - at
the Inglis Police Department, located at 26 Hwy. 40 W., Inglis. Mondays through Fridays,
from 8:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. To qualify for the shopping trip, the child’s family must be in
need, and the child must be between the ages of 3 and 12. Children will be notified as soon
as possible after the random drawing of names on Monday, Dec. 20.
