Home Invasion Turns Deadly in Levy
During the early morning hours of May 1 at 2:22 am, Levy County Deputies responded to
a Morriston residence located at 19690 SE 75th Place, upon receiving a 911 call of a shoot-
ing.
Deputies arrived at the residence to find two adults and two children (not injured),
ages 1 and 3, at the home. Thirty-one year-old Francisco DeJesus was suffering from mul-
tiple gunshot wounds, and a woman, identified as De Jesus fiance, had suffered blunt force
injuries to her head. According to the sheriff s office, unknown masked men had burst into
the home, demanding valuables.
Mr. DeJesus was transported to a local trauma unit, but died three days later as a
result of his injuries. His fiancé was also transported to the trauma unit, treated and released.
Investigators quickly learned that the suspects had intentionally targeted this home.
DeJesus had prior contacts with at least one of the suspects, and his fiancé was able to pro-
vide investigators with a description and nick-name which led to the identification of the
primary suspect. Biological evidence at the scene aided in the positive identification of the
shooter. Investigators focused their investigation toward neighboring Polk County where the
suspects were believed to have
fled.

Veterans Day is an official United States holiday, observed annually on November 11, that
honors military veterans, that is, persons who served in the United States Armed Forces. The
United States previously observed Armistice Day but in 1954 the U.S. holiday was renamed
