Suspicious Death Investigation
Carla Leigh Hoffman, 57, 5549 S. Chamberlain Pool Ave., Homosassa, was ar-
rested by the Citrus County Sheriff's Office, Nov. 19, charged with grand theft of $5,000
or more, but less than $10,000. Her bond was set at $2,000. Hoffman is accused of taking
a 1991 blue Ford pickup truck with a utility trailer attached that was hauling a Troy Built
tiller, even though several witnesses advised her against doing so, the report stated. The in-
cident was reported on Nov. 18. When confronted by deputies the following day, the report
stated, Hoffman began crying and said she was sorry for having taken the trailer.
Tyler James Brasfield, 19, Lake City, was arrested by the Citrus County Sheriff's
Office, Nov. 20, charged with possession of a controlled substance, possession of cannabis
less than 20 grams, and possession of drug paraphernalia. His bond was set at $4,000.
Charlene Nicole Hughes, 27, Homosassa, was arrested by the Citrus County Sher-
iff's Office, Nov. 20, charged with aggravated abuse of an elderly person or disabled adult,
and burglary with battery. Her total bond was set at $35,000. Hughes is accused of barging
into the victim's residence, uninvited, pushing the victim onto a couch and refusing her ac-
cess to her cellular phone by holding her down by her arms. Hughes denied the allegations,
and although a witness stated that she (the witness) was present during the incident, Hughes
stated that she was not.
At approximately 3:30am, (Monday) units responded to 2490 W Sunripe Loop and
