they did,” said Ofc. Hilberer. “In addition to solving our case, I was able to assist
the Citrus County Sheriff’s Office close their burglary case, which involved Dalton Day.
He hit a convenience store in Crystal River, a short time before he hit the Inglis Food Mart.
It appears that his object of attack for the burglaries was getting some K-2.”
Lorraine Barber, administrative assistant with the Inglis Police Department, ex-
plained the street jargon. “K-2 Trojan Tobacco is a synthetic marijuana,” she said. “I believe
the packs sell for about $6.00 each.”
According to the arrest reports, the burglary occurred about 1:30 a.m., Nov. 15.
Day is accused of breaking a window to the store (located at 650 Hwy. 40 West, Inglis)
with a metal tire iron, causing $500 in damages, then taking a bucket filled with about $200
in rolled quarters, along with a cardboard box containing 40 to 60 containers of incense,
valued at about $600, and leaving the store on foot with the stolen items.
The three were interviewed at the Inglis Police Station, Nov. 23, then arrested, late
that evening or early Nov. 24 and transported to the Levy County Jail.
Day was charged with four felonies: burglary of a business, grand theft, criminal
mischief and possession of burglary tools; his bond was set at $20,000.
Edwards was charged with two felonies: two counts of accessory after the fact of
a capital felony; his bond was set at $2,000. He is accused of dropping Day off at the food
mart, knowing Day’s intent, then allowing him to stay there without reporting the crime and
harboring him while he hid from law enforcement.
Obry was charged with three felonies: two counts of accessory after the fact of
a capital felony and tampering with physical evidence; her bond was set at $3,000. She is
accused of providing Day’s transportation to the scene of a crime; dropping Day off at the
food mart knowing his intent was burglary, and of being at Edwards’ residence when Day
arrived there after the burglary took place and not reporting the crime. She is also charged
with tampering with evidence. The report stated Obry, upon the request of Day to dispose
of the tire iron, wrapped it in plastic and concealed it in a family member’s garage.
